Leave dieting out of the midlife equation

Aging baby boomers can take advantage of a new resource for this time of transition. A three to four hour workshop called “Celebrating Midlife Madness” offers practical guidance on how to maintain health while embracing this normal progression of life.

The workshop is based on the new chapter in a revised version of the best selling how-to book, You Count, Calories Don' t (first published in 1992), by registered dietitian and entrepreneur, Linda Omichinski. Linda was inspired to add the new chapter to her book through her extensive experience with helping people get off the diet roller coaster through a lifestyle program that eliminates the scales and calorie counting. “Midlife weight gain is a big issue with women, “ Linda says. “It made sense to apply our expertise with the tools that enable people to get off the diet roller coaster to the unique challenges of the mid-life transition.”

You Count, Calories Don’t has enjoyed an international reach through the network of more than 200 lifestyle professionals who use You Count, Calories Don’t as the core material in Linda’s nondiet program called Hugs. Thousands of people seeking a lifestyle without diets from Alaska to New Zealand and from Great Britain to California have benefited from the earlier versions.

The HUGS network is inviting interested professionals from related fields such as social workers, nurses, and educators and other dietitians to join the current network for delivery of this new service.
