DIET is a four letter word!
I found that after many years in private practice, dealing
with body image and self-esteem issues, my clients were relying
on me, rather than on themselves.
HUGS provided a way for me to accomplish my goal - to empower
my clients to become responsible for their own health and eating
habits.
I am a registered dietitian, with an interest and focus on
wellness.

Eat Well; Be Well
We needed a program that would take away the focus from counting
calories to just eating healthy and being more active. The word
dieting has caused a fair amount of psychological damage (guilt,
discouragement on failure to comply/adhere and even eating disorders).
Personal qualifications include a Bachelors degree in Foods
and Nutrition with a minor in Business Administration
Graduate studies in Human Nutrition
Masters degree in Business Administration

The non-diet lifestyle is here to stay- it's something
we can follow for the rest of our lives so we can focus on being
"healthier" and "happier".
For years I taught another "lifestyle" program
- and thought at that time the program and participants were
successful.
Now I know there was so much that I was missing, and that part
deals with "YOU". Hugs not only helps us with a healthier
lifestyle, it helps us learn so much about ourselves beyond eating.
Hugs is a very positive and uplifting program. Hugs makes us
feel good about ourselves, so we can take care of ourselves as
well as we take care of others.
I have an Honours B.Sc. from the University of Western Ontario
in London, Ontario and a Dietetic Internship from St. Michael's
Hospital in Toronto. I have an established private practice in
Unionville, where I do one-on-one nutrition counselling which
includes the Hugs program.

"Achieve your natural weight and get fit without dieting!"
After years of prescribing diets for her clients, Lorraine
realized the results were not lasting. The problem was not the
individuals "lack of willpower", rather it was
the method -- diets dont work.
Lorraine, a registered dietitian with a Masters Degree
in Nutrition from Boston University, has counselled thousands
of individuals during her practice of over 15 years.
Lorraine offers group and individual counselling at the Metuchen-Edison

Be Diet Free!
HUGS expresses my philosohy that you can get control over
food without dieting, deprivation or hunger. I decided to use
the non-diet approach in teaching when I saw that even using
an exchange plan can cause people to rebel and sabotage their
own goals.
I am a registered dietitian and educational psychologist in
private practice. My mission is to help people heal their relationship
with food and with their bodies. I have a longstanding interest
in prevention and treatment of disordered eating, having been
"on the dieting rollercoaster" as a teen and young
adult. I am happy to say that good nutrition and good health
can come about when diets are thrown out the window and the focus
is put on meeting your needs!

Women and men break free from diets and pursue lifelong
steps towards total health.
I have researched many programs, attended numerous seminars
and personally searched for ways to marry the non-diet approach
to health with sound nutrition practices. I have always wanted
to develop my own program, but was excited to find the HUGS program
contained many of the concepts I have been teaching all nicely
organized and packaged in a "ready to present" format.
Thanks for saving me time. It's so nice to not feel alone in
the jungle of traditional diets and diet products.
I've have been a registered dietitian for over 13 years. I
have always had a special interest in working with persons with
eating disorders. However, in my work, I constantly see similarities
with my clients struggling with obesity and weight issues. For
more than 5 years I have been working with a psychologist to
treat disordered eating. It has been wonderful to have the chance
to truly develop the nutrition therapy side of my career. I have
also been doing hunger-satiety work for over 5 years. I am excited
about the HUGS program as a way to better present group non-diet
counseling to my clients.
In addition to my clinical experience, I have 11 years of
management experience, own a private consulting practice (Visions
for Success) and have author a number of professional books on
nutrition and recently a book for the public titled: Baby Basics:
A Guide for New Parents.
I practice in a physician clinic one to two days per week
and in a small rural hospital 3 days per weeks.

After a lifetime of "feeling fat" although I was really
not, I found in HUGS the freedom to accept my own body shape
and size. I want to help others to find this same freedom.
I am a master's level registered dietitian and have been in clinical
dietetics for 2 years. I am starting a private consulting practice
in order to carry the non-diet message to Georgia.

The nondiet lifestyle is a renaissance, offering freedom
from old norms while improving one's health, both physical AND
mental.
HUGS is a great, perhaps one of the few, alternatives to chronic
dieting. It's a positive approach to eating and exercise. Believing
in this, the HUGS program needs to be available in Southern California.
Too many people, especially women, are stuck in a lifestyle of
diet obsession , negative body image and, as a result, poor self
esteem. This trend must be reversed.
As a registered dietitian for over 20 years, Susan Vittek,
RD's experience with diet and health and how it relates to disease
is extensive. After employment at a southern California medical
center for over 15 years, Ms. Vittek is now involved as a consultant
and business owner of Hi-tek Nutrition. She is on staff at a
women's gym and consults with patients at a local doctor's office.
"Dietitian" is the only legal title in the California
state business code relating specifically to a nutrition care
provider.

I initially did a Home Economics degree qualifying in 1990.
I worked in the food industry as a technologist for a few years
before deciding to study further. In 1995 I qualified with an
Honours degree in Dietetics. I ran a clinical practice part time,
and begun facilitating courses for Jean Mills. I really
enjoyed the courses as I never was a fan of the traditional diet
approach to weight loss and lifestyle related diseases. I found
that most people found the one-on-one environment quite intimidating.
As a result compliance to any of the programs was poor. During
that year, I was approached by a large food manufacturer to join
their product development team. That was 4 years ago, now
I have a four month old baby girl, Jessica, and needless to say
life has changed somewhat. When I heard Jean was wanting
to sell the HUGS license, I approached her as we had studied
together and new each other well. I am a great fan of the HUGS
approach, and am eagerly looking towards starting in the New
Year.
