"I am a registered dietitian working in the area of community nutrition. As well as providing outpatient nutrition counselling, I also provide nutrition programs to the community . One such program is the HUGS for adults program which I have been offering for the past 7 years on a regular basis. I facilitate the program and during the 10 weeks I involve a psychologist for 2 sessions and a physiotherapist for three sessions. Past graduates of the HUGS program here at the EKM Community Health Centre hold a regularly scheduled HUGS support group. This group is peer lead and has been in operation since the beginning."

"I firmly feel that getting on the road to health involves a three- pronged approach i.e. healthy eating, healthy attitude and healthy activity. All of these aspects need to be in place before one sees a long term positive effect. The HUGS program provides participants with information and strategies so as to allow them to begin moving forward in the healthy lifestyle process."
